Frequently Asked Questions
Do you do internal work?
Yes, it is within our scope of practice to do internal work, if/when appropriate. A pelvic floor assessment includes an external and internal evaluation of the pelvic floor muscles and surrounding tissues. This offers an accurate picture of how your muscles are functioning and helps us identify any strength, coordination and/or mobility deficits.
Do I have to have an internal assessment?
Absolutely not! Alternative options will be discussed at your appointment. Even if you consent to an internal assessment initially, you are welcome to change your mind at any time! We can do a lot of fact finding via an external assessment in addition to a thorough review of your symptoms.
Does it cost more to have a home visit?
No! A home visit is included in the total cost for a therapy session for clients located in Antrim, Charlevoix, Kalkaska, Grand Traverse and Leelanau Counties. Clients located outside of those counties may receive a home visit at additional cost, or visit us in our office space at 425 Boardman Ave., Traverse City.
Do you offer virtual appointments?
Yes, we do! Is life too hectic to arrange for one more appointment in an already over-scheduled week? Please message us to discuss options for a telehealth appointment that is convenient for you!

Do I need a referral from a doctor or a midwife to see you?
No. Occupational therapists have direct access in Michigan, meaning a referral is not required for therapy services. However, if you are pregnant and seeking internal work a referral is preferred.
I am completely healthy. Why do I need to see a pelvic floor therapist during pregnancy?
There are many benefits to working with a pelvic floor therapist before you start experiencing problems! Specifically, during pregnancy, pelvic floor therapy can help you learn to relax your pelvic floor to prepare for childbirth, reduce your risk of tearing, prepare for pushing and help you learn to open the different levels of your pelvis (psst…your pelvis is NOT too small for your baby!).
